Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of our friends, family, volunteers and supporters! We hope you all enjoyed your holidays :). 2016 was a busy and great year for PFC. With your continued support, we began the rehab of our first home that we purchased in 2015, in North Lawndale. Upon the completion of the rehab and design later this year, the home will be a safe, welcoming and affirming environment that will house up to nine LGBTQ young people experiencing homelessness. This past year we also welcomed Gaylon Alcatraz as our Project Administrator, whose experience and skills has helped us tremendously in the areas of fundraising, operations, and building relationships with people and organizations in the North Lawndale community.  Our 3rd Annual Breakfast N Beds fundraiser was a success, thanks to all of you who attended and/or donated!

2017 promises to be a big year for us, as we plan to open our first transitional housing program for LGBTQ young people experiencing homelessness in the Fall! This is such an exciting time for us, and we continue to need your support as we begin providing services for young people. Your support this year will help us maintain a safe home for youth, hire staff to provide supportive services to young people and connect them with resources, ensure access to healthy food, maintain a steady supply toiletries and personal care products, and cover ongoing operating costs.

Here are the many ways you can support PFC:

  • Donate: Every donation helps and is deeply appreciated!

  • Become a Monthly Sustainer: As a sustainer, your monthly donation is crucial to helping us cover ongoing program and operating costs.

  • Wishlist: Designs for Dignity is helping us design the interior of the home to be a welcoming space for young people, and have created a wishlist of needed items for the house. Your purchase of an item from the wishlist fulfills the household needs of the young people who will reside there.

  • Join the Collective: PFC operates on a collective, community-based model, and we need and welcome more of our community members to join us in helping make our transitional housing program a reality. To learn more about our collective model and the different committees that are available to join, please email us at projectfiercechicago@gmail.com
